EmpowerHER has been selected for the third cohort of the Youth in Climate programme by Climate-KIC, marking the second time the organisation has received this support. The 2025–2026 project, titled Youth-Led Climate Vulnerability Mapping Initiative, will be implemented in Mvomero District, Tanzania.

The initiative aims to empower 80 young women—eight from each of 10 villages—to become Climate Vulnerability Assessment Leaders. These youth leaders will be trained to conduct participatory climate risk assessments in their communities and lead the development of village-level adaptation strategies. Through their leadership, the project will directly engage over 2,000 community members in climate resilience planning and action.

By focusing on locally driven adaptation, inclusive climate governance, and capacity building, EmpowerHER is addressing the urgent need to prepare rural Tanzanian communities for the impacts of climate change. The project aligns with the Youth in Climate programme’s emphasis on adaptation planning and strengthening the resilience of at-risk populations.

EmpowerHER continues its mission to create space for young women to lead climate action, influence policy, and generate data-driven solutions for their communities.
