EmpowerHER Selected for Climate-KIC’s Youth in Climate Programme
Tanzania – EmpowerHER is proud to announce its selection for the 3rd cohort of the Youth in Climate programme, an initiative supported by Climate-KIC, for the second time. Through this renewed partnership, EmpowerHER will implement the Youth-Led Climate Vulnerability Mapping Initiative in Mvomero District, running from August 2025 to May 2026.
With funding support of up to €5,000, the initiative will train 80 young women—eight from each of 10 villages—as Climate Vulnerability Assessment Leaders. These youth leaders will carry out comprehensive climate risk assessments and design village-specific adaptation actions. The project aims to engage over 2,000 community members in strengthening climate resilience at the local level.
“We are honoured to continue our partnership with Climate-KIC,” said Veronica Bey, Executive Director of EmpowerHER. “This recognition affirms our commitment to equipping young women with the tools to lead in climate governance and build solutions grounded in local realities.”
This year’s Youth in Climate programme focuses on adaptation planning, inclusive climate governance, and resilience building in at-risk communities—areas that align closely with EmpowerHER’s mission to centre youth and gender equity in climate action across Tanzania.
EmpowerHER remains dedicated to amplifying youth leadership, particularly that of young women, in responding to the climate crisis through community-driven, evidence-based solutions.
