EmpowerHer Champions Climate Justice and Gender at Nje ya Box Youth Talk 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Morogoro, Tanzania – May 2025 — EmpowerHer proudly participated in the Nje ya Box Youth Talk 2025, a youth-led event hosted by the Ufaulu Project at Sokoine University, which brought together over 1,000 young changemakers. The organization was represented by Executive Director Veronica Bey and Head of Programs Eunice Okama, who both delivered powerful messages on climate justice and the need for gender-responsive policies.
“Climate justice is not just about the environment — it’s about people, equity, and power,” said Veronica Bey. “Women and girls are disproportionately affected by the climate crisis, and their leadership is essential for building resilient, inclusive communities.”
EmpowerHer’s presence at the event was part of its ongoing mission to amplify women’s voices in climate decision-making, promote sustainable practices, and support communities in becoming more climate-resilient.
Eunice Okama, Head of Programs, emphasized the role of youth and gender inclusion: “We are here not just to speak — but to listen, to learn, and to co-create solutions. EmpowerHer believes in the power of young people, especially young women, to drive climate action from the ground up.”
The event marked a significant opportunity to engage young people across Tanzania in meaningful dialogue about the intersection of climate, gender, and leadership.
